Abby's background is in international non-profit storytelling, through photographs, video, writing, and editing. She has a passion for finding the heart of the story and communicating it through compelling photos and incisive text.
With five young children at home, she currently specializes in portrait photography, capturing natural, unposed moments for diverse families in central North Carolina. Additionally, she is available for corporate headshots, newborn sessions, senior portraits, event photography, engagement portraits, and non-profit photography. She also works with writers to hone their manuscripts through careful edits, including proofreading, copyediting, and line edits, always ensuring adherence to relevant style guides to present the most polished finished product.
Previously, Abby worked as a photographer, writer, and editor for World Vision. She traveled on assignment to Africa, Latin America, and Asia, reporting child-focused stories about natural disasters, microfinance, community development, child rights, and food security. Her stories and photographs appear in print and online, giving a voice to children and families in poverty around the world.
Additionally, Abby served as a contributing writer and editor for four Thomas Nelson book projects alongside Rich Stearns, then-president of World Vision USA.
Abby holds a degree in photojournalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She and Dave live on five acres in North Carolina with their five young children and one old yellow Labrador.
