I've seen this brilliant bit of advice from Ira Glass (my celebrity crush) before, but I re-watched it again today. And boy did I need to hear it.
The rain came back to Seattle this week, after quite a glorious stretch of summer sun... since May, really. And I'm not quite ready for the rain yet - it makes me feel a little sleepy and slow and unmotivated. Like I just want to curl up on our new sheepskin and read a book and take a nap.
But Ira has given me just the kick in the pants that I need today, and has made me remember that there will be a gap between my taste and what I'm creating for a while still. And the best thing I can do is just jump in and start making stories.
Stories for dayzzzzz.
